Musical Director (Independent Contractor)
Job Type: Part-time, Paid position, Independent Contractor. Contracted from date hired through March 31, 2026. The Musical Director is not an employee and will receive a 1099 NEC. CVCC will not provide fringe benefits, health insurance benefits, paid vacation, or any other employee benefit.
The Chippewa Valley Community Chorus (CVCC), a long-standing non-profit community choir founded in 1978, is seeking a part-time Musical Director for the 2025–2026 season. This is an independent contractor position (1099 NEC), contracted through March 31, 2026.
The Musical Director will lead weekly Monday evening rehearsals beginning January 2026 and conduct the spring concert on March 22, 2026. Responsibilities include selecting concert repertoire in collaboration with the Executive Board, directing rehearsals and performances, coordinating with the accompanist and any hired musicians, attending board meetings, and providing rehearsal materials for singers.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in music (or equivalent experience), strong communication and organizational skills, and experience in choral conducting and vocal music. Rehearsals for the 2025–26 season will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church in Chippewa Falls.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in music or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must have good communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Must have experience in vocal music and in choral conducting. A U.S. SSN or TIN is required.
Responsibilities: The Musical Director leads and conducts all rehearsals and performances, provides clear instruction to singers and the accompanist, and works effectively with people of all backgrounds and ages. Responsibilities include selecting concert music and themes in collaboration with the Executive Board, coordinating with instrumentalists or soloists, attending board meetings, preparing or delegating digital rehearsal materials, communicating program details to support teams, and arranging media interviews to promote the chorus and its concerts.
Compensation: $1,500-$1,800, depending on qualifications
